Final Project

Early Life

Khalil Gilbert Freymond was born on February 10, 2002. When he was a young child he learned his love for music through his father’s hobby of playing the drums with him. He continued to love playing the drums and started to play the trumpet in 4th grade. Playing the trumpet proved to be less captivating for Khalil the more he played them and he switched to playing in percussion. Khalil played in the percussion till high school where he stopped playing in the school band due to switching districts and his new district didn’t have a marching band like his previous one. This wasn’t the end of Khalil’s pursuit of music he started to use applications like GarageBand to help him create his own music on his own time.

Hobbies

Khalil also, was a counselor in training and worked enough to become a counselor at camp Jewell. Khalil is extremely passionate about camp Jewell and he plans to work there again in the future. Khalil discovered his passion for working with kids and started working at local camps in the town of West Hartford. Khalil helped kids learn to solve problems on their own and learn how to work with other kids. Khalil worked at local camps from June 2017-December 2019, he says he would happily take the opportunity to work at local camps in the future or even find a career in teaching.

Theater

Khalil during senior year helped with the theater at Conard Highschool. Khalil wouldn’t be preforming the the theater but he would be helping out behind the stage to learn more about music and theater production in general. He helped with several plays, like Macbeth and Shrek the musical, backstage. He only worked with the theater during his senior year at Conard Highschool. From his work in the theater he said he learned how movies use music to help manipulate emotion in movies and plays. Khalil feels very grateful on what he learned from his time in theater and wants to continue his career in theater in college.

Experience in Business

Khalil has started to grow his career by creating a website where he makes and sells custom made t-shirts. He started off promoting his business by spreading his new t-shirt business throughout the high-school. He had posters throughout the hallways and the cafeteria. He would also go on the intercom and promote his website to the school through the morning announcements. He took advantage of the school’s morning announcements and posters in the hallways in order to grow his business, he said that on average he got around 350 a month for 12 months and it increases more as the year progressed.

The Future

Khalil in the future is thinking of going to Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. Khalil believes Berklee is a good choice for him because of his passion for music ever since he has been a kid. Khalil wants to continue learning and improving his ability in the percussion. Khalil wants to commit his career to playing the drums and he is hoping to find a good career opportunity after graduating from Berklee. Khalil in the near future wants to work and save enough money for Berklee. He is going to work at camp Jewell during the summer and during the fall he is going to attend Berklee.
